Frequently Asked Questions
The heavy, dense things: tools, pump, spare tube, battery pack, food and a stove. Weight in the middle of the bike affects the handling least, which leaves the saddle bag and bar bag for light, bulky gear such as a sleeping bag and spare clothes. Keep the heaviest items low in the bag.
Measure the inside of your front triangle: the length along the underside of the top tube and the depth down to the downtube. Compare those with the bag sizes on the product page. Small frames and full-suspension bikes have the least room, so a short bag like the EVOC Frame Pack WP 1.5 or a corner bag often fits better.
With a half frame bag, usually yes, because it sits under the top tube and leaves the lower triangle free. A full frame bag fills the triangle, so bottles move to the fork, the bars or a cage under the downtube. Check the bag's depth against your bottle and cage before you buy.
The EVOC Fork Pack WP 4.5 uses the Klickfix system. It bolts straight onto forks with mounting points, and forks without them need Klickfix's universal adapter, sold separately. Check that your fork and brake hose leave room for a 4.5 L bag before you order.
How to choose a frame bag
• Half or full frame:How to choose a frame bag
• Half or full frame: a half frame bag sits under the top tube and leaves room for bottles, like the Topeak Midloader (3, 4.5 or 6 L) or Restrap Bikepacking Frame Bag. A full frame bag such as the Restrap Full Frame Bag Medium fills the triangle with 7.5 L, but your bottles move to the fork or bars.
• Measure your frame: check the length under the top tube and the depth of the triangle against the bag's dimensions. The EVOC Frame Pack WP 1.5 is the short one for small frames; the WP 3 runs the full length of the top tube.
• Top tube bags: for food and a phone you can reach while riding. The Topeak Toploader holds 1 L with a rain cover; the EVOC Top Tube Pack WP 1 opens one-handed.
• Small bags for odd spaces: the EVOC Downtube Pack WP 1.2 and Multi Frame Packs strap to the downtube or seat tube, handy on full-suspension bikes and dropper-post bikes with no room for a saddle bag. Deuter's Triangle bags tuck into the corner of the frame.
Fork bags
Once the frame, saddle and bars are full, the fork legs take the overflow. The EVOC Fork Pack WP 4.5 is a 4.5 L waterproof roll-top on a Klickfix mount; forks without mounting points need Klickfix's universal adapter, sold separately. The Topeak VersaCage is a cargo cage that bolts to bosses or clamps to 20 to 60 mm tubes and straps on a dry bag up to 3 kg.
