Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the listing. The Therm-ic Heat Fusion Uni + S-Pack 700 BT is a complete set with two Bluetooth batteries. The Ultra Warm Comfort S.E.T. and Heat Fusion Unisex are sold as socks only, so you need a pair of Therm-ic S-Pack batteries. The S-Pack 700, 700B, 1200 and 1400B all fit.
Runtime depends on battery size, heat level and temperature. Therm-ic rates the S.E.T. at up to 9 hours on the S-Pack 1400B, and the Heat Fusion range at up to 16 hours depending on battery. Level 3 drains fastest, so use it in short bursts and keep to levels 1 and 2 most of the day.
Yes, after you unclip both batteries, because the batteries aren't waterproof. Turn the socks inside out and wash at 30 °C or below with no bleach or fabric softener. Line or flat dry, and never tumble dry. Heated gloves and mittens shouldn't go in the machine at all.
Both batteries charge together from the supplied USB cable. Use a USB adapter of no more than 5 V. A wall charger isn't included. Charge fully before first use. Over summer, store the batteries about half charged somewhere cool, between 5 and 20 °C.
How to choose heated socks
Electric heated socks have two parts: the sock, with a heating element around the toes, and a battery that clips to the cuff. Some listings include batteries (the Heat Fusion Uni + S-Pack 700 BT set). Others are the sock only (the Ultra Warm Comfort S.E.T. and Heat Fusion Unisex), so addHow to choose heated socks

• Battery size sets the runtime. The S-Pack 700 and 700B hold 1400 mAh per battery, the 1200 holds 2400 mAh and the 1400B holds 2800 mAh. Therm-ic rates the S.E.T. at up to 9 hours on the 1400B. For full days on the hill, go bigger.
• Bluetooth or button. The "B" batteries let you change the heat from the Therm-ic Heat Control app, so you don't have to dig under your ski pants.
• Fit. These are knee-high ski socks with a close fit. Wear them as your only sock in the boot.
Rechargeable heated gloves
The Therm-ic Ultra Heat Boost Gloves have heating elements around each finger and across the back of the hand. They have three heat levels and up to 10 hours of warmth, with PrimaLoft insulation, a leather palm and a 10K/10K waterproof membrane. The batteries and USB cable are included, but not a wall charger. The Ultra Heat Boost Mittens use the same build. A mitten keeps your fingers together, so they share the warmth. If your hands run cold even in good gloves, see our men's snow gloves and women's snow gloves too.
Heated socks in Australia: when they earn their keep
Heated socks are worth it on a windy chairlift at Perisher in July, a long day teaching the kids at Thredbo, a minus-double-figures morning in Niseko or a frosty dawn on a Tasmanian winter walk. Use levels 1 and 2 most of the day and level 3 in short bursts only. Never wear heated socks with heated insoles. If you have trouble feeling heat or cold, for example with diabetes, talk to your doctor before using them.
