Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the pad. The EVOC Tailgate Pad Duo carries up to two bikes, and the EVOC Tailgate Pad and Tailgate Pad Curve secure up to six. Bikes hang front wheel over the tailgate with the down tube on the padding, so you need no rack and the whole group travels in one ute.
Check the shape and the width of your tailgate. The Tailgate Pad Curve is made specifically for curved tailgates. The Tailgate Pad and the Curve come in M/L and XL (the Curve M/L is 136 x 85 cm), so measure your tailgate and compare it with the pad dimensions, or ask us before you order.
Yes. EVOC's Bike Rack Covers go over the bike while it sits on a boot or towbar rack, straps pull them in to the bike's shape, and the bike stays easy to secure and lock to the rack with the cover on. Pack the cover into its own storage bag when you arrive.
How to choose a tailgate pad
• Number of bikes:How to choose a tailgate pad
• Number of bikes: the EVOC Tailgate Pad Duo takes up to two bikes; the EVOC Tailgate Pad (M/L and XL) secures up to six.
• Curved tailgates: the Tailgate Pad Curve is shaped for utes with a curved tailgate and hooks on with heavy-duty aluminium hooks. The M/L measures 136 x 85 cm.
• Size: the Tailgate Pad and the Curve come in M/L and XL. Measure your tailgate width and check it against the pad dimensions before you order, or ask us.
• Keep your ute working: all three keep the tailgate release handle within reach and have a flap for the rear-view camera. The straps on the Tailgate Pad and Duo are e-bike compatible.
• How it carries: bikes go front wheel over the tailgate with the down tube resting on the padding, which protects the paint on both the bikes and the ute.
Bike covers, rugs and wheel cases
• Rack covers: the Bike Rack Cover MTB and Bike Rack Cover Road go over a bike on a boot or towbar rack and keep rain, spray and grit off on the drive. The MTB cover takes bars up to 80 cm and a 125 cm wheelbase; the Road cover a 110 cm wheelbase.
• Protective Bike Rugs: padded covers for a bike inside the car or in storage. The MTB and Road versions keep the wheels free to roll; the universal rug fits every bike type.
• Train covers: the Bike Cover MTB and Bike Cover Road are unpadded bags that turn a bike, with its front wheel out, into luggage on trains that won't carry whole bikes.
• Wheel case: the EVOC Road Bike Wheel Case covers one road wheel and fits inside the wheel pockets of EVOC's Bike Bag and Bike Bag Pro.
Getting the bikes to the trail
A shuttle day at Mount Buller or a weekend at Derby means a lot of bikes and a long drive. A tailgate pad in the ute carries the crew's bikes in one vehicle, and a rack cover keeps a clean drivetrain clean on the highway. Lock up at the café stop with a bike lock, and carry spares in frame bags.
