Frequently Asked Questions
Go by the ISO comfort rating and where you camp. Around 7°C comfort suits Queensland and coastal trips most of the year. About 0°C covers shoulder-season trips in the high country. For the Aussie Alps in winter or Tasmania outside summer, look at -3°C comfort or lower.
Fill power measures loft per gram. 800 FP traps the same warmth with less down than 650 FP, so the bag weighs less and packs smaller. The Riff 30 (800 FP) weighs 845 g against 880 g for the similar Disco -1°C (650 FP), with the same 4°C comfort rating.
Synthetic insulation keeps more of its warmth when damp, which suits humid coastal camps and wet tents. Down is lighter and packs smaller. Nemo's Disco uses hydrophobic down with a waterproof-reinforced hood and footbox to help. For consistently wet trips, the synthetic Tempo is the safer pick.
Yes, the Disco Endless Promise -9°C zips to a second Disco with an opposing zip to make a double. If you want a double from the start, the Nemo Jazz is a synthetic double bag. Its built-in sleeve holds your sleeping pad in place, and the Roamer fits it.
How to choose a down sleeping bag
Buy on the comfort rating. How to choose a down sleeping bag
Buy on the comfort rating. ISO testing gives two numbers. Comfort is where a cold sleeper stays warm all night. Limit is where a warm sleeper gets through curled up. Plan around comfort, and treat the limit as a warning, not a target.
Fill power sets weight and pack size. Higher fill power means more loft per gram. Nemo's Disco uses 650 FP down; the Riff uses 800 FP; the Pulse quilt uses 1000 FP. Same warmth, less weight as the number climbs, and a higher price.
Shape decides how you sleep. Nemo's Spoon shape (Disco, Riff, Tempo) is wider at the elbows and knees, so you can draw a knee up and roll over. The Soul is a traditional tapered mummy. The Pulse is a quilt: no back, no zip, and it relies on your sleeping pad underneath.
Length. Regular fits to 183 cm and Long to 198 cm in the men's/unisex bags; women's Regular fits to 168 cm. Take the shortest that fits. Spare length is cold air you have to heat.

Hiking sleeping bags for Australian conditions
Queensland and coastal camping most of the year: a 7°C comfort bag is plenty, and a Tempo 35 or a Disco -1°C covers it. Shoulder season on the tablelands and in the Victorian high country: aim for about 0°C comfort. Aussie Alps season (Jun–Sep) and Tassie outside summer: look at -3°C comfort or lower. That means the Disco -9°C or the women's Riff 15.
Tassie wet and tent condensation are the enemy of down. Nemo's Disco uses hydrophobic down with a reinforced hood and footbox. If you camp wet often, synthetic is the safer choice.
Your body weight crushes the fill underneath you, so warmth from below comes from your pad. Pair the bag with a sleeping pad of the right R-value. Then store it loose at home, not in the stuff sack.
