Description

The Nemo Disco Endless Promise is a 650-fill-power down sleeping bag rated to -3°C ISO comfort and -9°C ISO limit. Its Classic Spoon shape is cut wide at the elbows and knees, so side sleepers can change position without fighting the bag. Four sizes fit up to 183 cm or 198 cm.

Who it's for

Side sleepers, and anyone who finds a standard mummy bag claustrophobic. The Spoon cut adds width exactly where a person moves - elbows and knees - without the weight penalty of a rectangular bag. For three-season backpacking in Australian conditions, a -3°C comfort rating covers most of the year outside genuine alpine winter.

Less suited to gram-counting alpine trips, where a narrower mummy bag with higher fill power will pack smaller and weigh less for the same warmth. At 1.3 kg for the Regular this is a comfort-first bag, not a race-weight one.

Key features

  • Classic Spoon shape - wider at the elbows and knees than a mummy, narrower at the ends than a rectangular bag, which is how it keeps the weight down while still letting you roll over.
  • Thermo Gill vents across the chest, with an inner and outer zipper and a draft-blocking layer between them. You can dump heat on a mild night without opening the bag to cold air.
  • Blanket Fold draft collar at the neck, oversized so it seals warmth in rather than needing to be cinched tight.
  • 650 FP hydrophobic down, PFAS-free and RDS-certified, so it keeps loft better than untreated down when tent condensation gets into it.
  • Waterproof-reinforced hood and footbox - the two places a bag touches a wet tent wall.
  • Zips to a second Disco with an opposing zip to make a double.
  • Endless Promise construction: the shell is made entirely from PET and Nemo designed the bag to be fully recyclable at the end of its life rather than landfilled.

Understanding the temperature ratings

Two numbers matter. ISO comfort, -3°C here, is the temperature a cold sleeper should stay comfortable at. ISO limit, -9°C, is where a warm sleeper is still expected to sleep, curled up. Buy on the comfort figure, not the limit, and treat the number on the label as a starting point rather than a promise - sleeping pad R-value, what you wear and how well you have eaten all move it.

FAQ's

How cold can you use the Nemo Disco -9°C sleeping bag?
The Disco is rated to -3°C ISO comfort and -9°C ISO limit. Comfort is the figure to buy on: it is the temperature at which a cold sleeper should stay comfortable. The limit rating assumes a warm sleeper curled up and is not a temperature you would choose to camp at regularly.

What is the Spoon shape and is it better for side sleepers?
Nemo's Classic Spoon silhouette is cut wider at the elbows and knees than a mummy bag while staying narrow at the head and feet. That gives side sleepers room to bend a knee and tuck an arm without dragging the whole bag around, and it does so without the weight of a full rectangular bag.

Can two Nemo Disco bags be zipped together?
Yes. Two Disco bags with opposing zip sides join to make a double sleeping bag. You need one left-zip and one right-zip bag for this to work, so check the zip orientation of both before buying if a double is the goal.

What are Thermo Gill vents for?
Thermo Gills are two vents across the chest of the Disco, each with an interior and exterior zipper and a draft-blocking layer between them. They let you release heat on a mild night without opening the bag and exposing yourself to cold air directly, which is what happens when you unzip a conventional bag.

Which size Nemo Disco should I buy?
Regular and Regular Wide fit up to 183 cm; Long and Long Wide fit up to 198 cm. The Wide versions add girth rather than length, so choose them if you sleep on your side, move a lot, or wear layers to bed. Fill weight rises with size, from 642 g in Regular to 750 g in Long Wide.

How should I store a down sleeping bag between trips?
Store the Disco lofted in the mesh storage cube it comes with, not compressed in its stuff sack. Down loses loft permanently if it is kept crushed for months, and loft is what keeps you warm. Use the compression sack only for carrying the bag on a trip.

What does Endless Promise mean?
Endless Promise is Nemo's design programme for products intended to be recycled rather than landfilled at the end of their life. On the Disco that means a shell manufactured entirely from PET, and a bag Nemo states is 100% recyclable when it is finally worn out.
