Description
The Disco 15°F / -9°C Women's is Nemo's down backpacking sleeping bag for side sleepers: water-resistant down inside a recycled polyester shell, cut in the Classic Spoon shape that gives your elbows and knees somewhere to go. It belongs to the Endless Promise range, so at the end of a long life the whole bag goes back to Nemo to be recycled.
Who it's for
Women who sleep on their side, shift through the night, and are heading somewhere properly cold. Think a frosty hut-side camp on the Bogong High Plains, the Overland Track in the shoulder season, or a clear winter night in the Snowies when the tent fly is stiff with ice by morning. You carry it on your back, you sleep in it the way you sleep at home.
Understanding the temperature rating
This is the 15°F / -9°C Disco, the colder of the two Disco models. Sleeping bags are tested to two figures. Comfort is the temperature at which a cold sleeper stays comfortable all night; limit is the lowest temperature at which a warm sleeper still does. Plan your trips on comfort, and leave yourself a margin if you know you sleep cold.
When the night turns out milder than forecast, open the Thermo Gill vents on the chest. Each one has an inner and an outer zip with a draught-blocking layer between, so you let heat out without letting cold air straight in. The Blanket Fold collar does the same job at your neck: tuck it in to seal the warmth, push it out to cool down.
Shape and room
Classic Spoon means wide at the elbows and knees, closer at the shoulders and feet. Draw a knee up, roll from one side to the other, sleep with an arm bent under your head, and the bag moves with you instead of twisting around you.
Down or synthetic here
Down, treated to shed moisture without PFAS and certified to the Responsible Down Standard. The baffles run vertically over your torso and horizontally below the waist, which keeps the down where you put it. The hood and footbox are reinforced with a waterproof fabric, because those are the two places a bag touches a wet tent wall.
Weight and packed size
Down is why a bag this warm still squashes small enough to carry. A compression sack comes with the Disco for the trail: cinch it down and the bag sits in the bottom of your pack with room left for the rest of your kit. A mesh storage cube is included for home.
Sizing
The Disco Women's comes in Regular and Long. Pick the length that matches your height rather than sizing up for the sake of it: empty space at the foot of a bag is air your body has to heat. If you are tall for a Regular, or like to pull the hood right over your head, take the Long.
The zip is on the right. Two Discos with zips on opposite sides join into a double.
Looking after it
Store the Disco loose in its mesh cube, not squeezed into the compression sack, and the down keeps its loft for years. When the bag is finally worn out, Endless Promise means it is sent back to Nemo and recycled rather than binned.
