Riff (15°F / -8°C) Endless Promise Womens Sleeping Bag
Description
Description
The Riff is Nemo's 800 fill-power down women's sleeping bag rated to -8 C, cut in their Spoon shape - wider at the elbows and knees for side sleepers, trim everywhere else so it packs small. Part of the Endless Promise range, built to be sent back and recycled at the end of its life.
Who it's for
Real cold, and women who still want to sleep on their side in it. Comfortable to -8°C, this is a winter bag - alpine trips, snow camping, and Tasmanian nights well outside summer - built with the same room to move as the rest of the Riff range.
Understanding the temperature rating
Two numbers matter, and the one to buy on is comfort. Comfort at -8°C is the temperature you stay warm through the night. Limit at -15°C is where a warm sleeper is curled up and holding on until morning. Plan your trips around the comfort figure and you will sleep; plan them around the limit and you will spend the night awake doing sums.
Both are ISO tested, so they compare directly against any other bag quoting the same standard - which makes them the only honest way to line two bags up against each other.
Shape and room
Spoon shape, so a winter bag does not have to mean lying rigid on your back all night. Extra width at the elbows and knees, tapered at shoulders and feet where the warmth has to stay. Thermo Gill vents handle the nights that turn out milder than forecast.
Down or synthetic here
800 fill-power down, 845 g of it in the Regular, with extra insulation through the footbox and torso. That much high-loft down is what gets you to -8°C comfort at 1.46 kg.
Weight and packed size
1.46 kg minimum weight in the Regular, compressing to 9.5 litres at 31 x 23 cm. For a genuine winter bag, that is a very fair carry.
Sizing
Regular fits to 168 cm, Long to 183 cm.
How it compares
Endless Promise means Nemo built it to come back and be remade at the end of its life instead of going to landfill. It costs you nothing and it is a better answer than a bag that becomes rubbish in a decade.
One habit doubles its life: store it loose. Keep it in the big cotton sack it arrives in and save the stuff sack for the trail. Down that lives compressed stops lofting, and loft is the whole product.
