Description

The Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni + S-Pack 700 BT is a heated ski sock set: a pair of unisex Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni ND socks with two rechargeable S-Pack 700B Bluetooth batteries. Heat Fusion warms all around the toes, three heat levels let you match the heat to the day, and you can change the setting on the battery or from your phone. This listing is size EU 45-47.

Who it's for

Skiers and snowboarders whose toes go numb before lunch. A windy chairlift at Mount Buller, a slow day teaching the kids at Thredbo, a bluebird morning in Niseko at minus double figures: switch the heat on at the bottom of the lift and ride up with warm feet. They suit anyone with poor circulation in cold boots, and they are just as welcome for ski touring rest stops, snowshoeing and long cold days on the mountain.

Heat and battery

Each sock carries one S-Pack 700B battery, which clips to the cuff with press studs in a few seconds. Level 1 is gentle background warmth, level 3 is a quick blast to bring cold toes back, and level 2 sits between. The Bluetooth batteries pair with Therm-ic's Heat Control app on iOS and Android, so you can turn the heat up or down from your pocket without unzipping your ski pants.

  • One pair of Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni ND heated socks
  • Two S-Pack 700B rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with Bluetooth
  • USB charging cable included; mains wall charger not included
  • Three heat levels, set on the battery or in the app

The batteries run longest on level 1. Cold air, a low charge and older batteries all shorten the heating time, so start low and save the top setting for short bursts when your toes need it.

Fit and layering

A tight, anatomical fit, knee high, so there are no folds inside a snug ski boot. Padded comfort zones sit over the shin, calf and instep, where a stiff boot presses hardest, and the heel and toe are reinforced. Wear the Powersocks as your only sock in the boot.

Fabric and construction

The yarn is 49% acrylic, 27% polyamide, 12% polypropylene, 10% merino wool and 2% elastane. Moisture-Vent channels under the arch and around the foot carry sweat up and out of the boot, which keeps your feet drier, and dry feet feel the heat better.

Looking after it

Unclip both batteries before washing; they are not waterproof. Turn the socks inside out and machine wash at 30 °C or below, with no bleach and no fabric softener, then line dry. Do not tumble dry or iron them. At the end of the season, charge the batteries to about half and store them somewhere cool, between 5 °C and 20 °C.

Heated socks need a little care in use. Keep to low or moderate heat and check your feet for redness. Never wear them with heated insoles, and if you have trouble feeling heat or cold, for example with diabetes, talk to your doctor before using them.

FAQ's

What comes in the Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni + S-Pack 700 BT set?
The Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni + S-Pack 700 BT set contains one pair of Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni ND heated socks, two S-Pack 700B Bluetooth batteries and a USB charging cable. A mains wall charger is not included.

Can I control Therm-ic heated socks from my phone?
Yes. The S-Pack 700B batteries in the Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni set are Bluetooth, so you can change the heat level in Therm-ic's Heat Control app on iOS or Android. Your phone needs Bluetooth 4.0 or later. The button on each battery works too.

How long do Therm-ic S-Pack 700B batteries last?
Therm-ic S-Pack 700B batteries heat longest on level 1 and shortest on level 3. Cold air, a low charge and battery age all reduce heating time, so start the Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni on a low setting and use the top level only in short bursts.

Where do Therm-ic Heat Fusion socks heat your feet?
Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni socks use Heat Fusion technology, which spreads the heat all around the toes, the part of the foot that goes cold first in a ski boot. The warmth then carries into the rest of the foot.

How do I wash Therm-ic heated socks?
Unclip both batteries first, because they are not waterproof. Turn the Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni socks inside out and machine wash at 30 °C or below, with no bleach or fabric softener. Line dry; do not tumble dry or iron.

Do Therm-ic heated socks interfere with an avalanche beacon?
Like any electronics, Therm-ic heated socks can affect an avalanche beacon. In search mode, switch the Powersocks off and keep the beacon antenna away from the batteries. Before heading out, test with a second beacon that the heating does not disturb send or receive.

Can I take Therm-ic heated socks on a plane?
Yes, with the batteries handled correctly. Disconnect the S-Pack 700B batteries from the Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni socks and keep them switched off while travelling. Check your airline's rules for lithium-ion batteries before you fly.

Are Therm-ic heated socks safe to wear all day?
Yes, on low or moderate heat. Use the highest level of the Therm-ic Powersocks Heat Fusion Uni for a few minutes at a time only, check your feet for redness, and never combine heated socks with heated insoles. People with reduced feeling in their feet should ask a doctor first.
