For warm days, a UPF 50+ or merino shirt, quick-dry hiking pants or merino leggings, a brimmed hat and wool socks. For cooler or wetter days, add a fleece and a seam-sealed rain jacket and rain pants. In winter or at altitude, start with merino thermals and carry gloves and a beanie.
Most XTM women's clothing uses Australian sizes 8 to 18, the Kimberley II rain jacket goes to 20, and the Plus Size Smooch ski pant covers 20 to 28. Ottie Merino shirts run XS to 3XL. Unisex rain pants run XS to 4XL and unisex gloves 2XS to 2XL, so check each chart.
For multi-day walks, usually yes. Merino resists odour, so one shirt or thermal lasts several days, and it stays comfortable from a cold start to a warm afternoon. Synthetic shirts and pants dry faster and often carry a UPF 50+ rating, which suits hot day walks.

Building a women's layering kit
Start with a base layer: a merino shirt or thermal for cool days and multi-day walks, or a UPF 50+ shirt for hot, open tracks. Add a mid layer, such as a fleece or WoolxLoft vest, for cold starts and camp. Finish with a seam-sealed rain jacket and rain pants. That covers most Australian walking, from a winter Larapinta trip to a wet week on the Overland Track. Gloves and a beanie weigh little and make a big difference on a cold ridge. For a snow trip, swap the rain shell for an insulated snow jacket and pants, and keep the thermals.
