Description
The CamelBak Ultra Minimal Hydration Belt is the least you can wear and still carry water on a run: a soft 500 ml flask, your phone, a couple of gels and your keys, all on a mesh belt that weighs 80 g.
Who it's for
Runners who want a drink on hand without a vest across their shoulders. A hot 10 km along the Gold Coast Oceanway, a long Sunday road run, or a trail run in the Springbrook hinterland where a mouthful of water at the top of the climb is the whole point. The trekking pole carry makes it a good match for technical trail and ultra runners who use poles on the steep stuff and want them out of their hands on the runnable sections.
Capacity and fit
The belt carries one 500 ml Quick Stow flask, which moulds to the shape of your body in its pocket instead of sitting there like a hard bottle. Once it is empty, fold it flat and tuck it away, so the last few kilometres are not spent carrying dead weight.
Your phone goes in the zipped pocket, and the stretch pocket holds gels, keys and cards. The whole belt measures 12 x 34 x 6 cm, and the 3D Micro Mesh against your back lets air through and cushions the load.
We carry it in XS/S and M/L. Wear it snug around your waist: a belt that is snug does not bounce, and a belt that bounces gets taken off at the first drink stop.
Drinking and refilling
Pull the flask, bite and squeeze. The one-piece silicone bite valve opens when you bite and closes when you let go, then the flask slides back into its pocket. Refill at any tap or fountain on your route and you are away again in seconds.
Cleaning and mould
Soft flasks are easy to keep clean if you do it straight away. Rinse the Quick Stow flask after every run, and wash it with warm soapy water the same day if you carried sports drink. Leave it open to dry fully before it goes back in the drawer.
