Description
The USWE Raw 4L is a compact hydration pack built for enduro and off-road motorcycle riding, carrying a 3 litre bladder and a small load of tools and snacks on a harness designed not to move. USWE now sells this pack as the Moto Hydro 4L, so if you have been looking for either name, this is the one.
Who it's for
Trail bike and enduro riders who want water on board for a long day and need the pack to stay put when the ground gets rough. Think a full day in Imbil State Forest, a club enduro loop in the Watagans, or a summer ride where you are drinking every time the bike stops. The Raw 4L is built for riders in light moto gear rather than bulky adventure jackets.
Capacity and fit
The pack holds 4 litres in total, including a 3.0 litre Elite bladder, and weighs 500 g before you add water. An extra organiser compartment keeps a multi-tool, tyre levers, a first aid kit and a couple of gels sorted and easy to reach, and a water-resistant phone pocket sits inside the main compartment.
The No Dancing Monkey 1.2 harness is the reason people buy USWE. Four elastic straps and a tech buckle pull the pack snug to your back, yet the straps stretch as your chest expands, so you can breathe hard on a climb without the pack riding up or bouncing through whoops. This is the Race Fit, sized for chests from 84 to 110 cm. Ventilated shoulder straps and back panel let air through on hot days.
Drinking and refilling
The Elite bladder is made by HydraPak and connects to the drink tube with a Plug-N-Play coupling. For a 3 litre bladder in a pack this size, that is a lot of water between refills.
Cleaning and mould
The Elite bladder turns inside out like a sock. Reverse it, then put it through the dishwasher or wash it with mild soap and water, and let it dry completely while it is still reversed. A bladder that dries properly is a bladder that does not grow anything.
Looking after it
After every ride, empty the pack and brush muddy areas clean with soapy water. Hand wash only: a washing machine or dryer damages the PU coating. Keep the zips clean and store the pack somewhere dry and well ventilated.
