Nemo Fillo Backpacking & Camping Pillow

The Fillo is Nemo's camp pillow: an inflatable core with foam and a brushed cover over it, so it feels like a pillow instead of a balloon, and it packs into its own integrated pocket.

Who it's for

Anyone who has spent a night with a stuff sack of clothes under their head and decided there had to be something better. A pillow is the piece of gear people cut to save weight and then regret at 2am - and sleep quality is what decides whether day three is any fun. At 265 g the Fillo is a small price for actually sleeping.

Air, foam, or both

Both, and the combination is the entire design. Pure air pillows are light and pack tiny but feel like a balloon and slide out from under your head. Pure foam is comfortable and far too bulky to carry. The Fillo puts a baffled air cell inside to hold the shape and provide the support, then covers it with a thick layer of luxury foam for give. The result cradles rather than bounces.

The baffling is why it keeps its shape instead of squeezing into a lump when you roll onto your side.

Size and loft

43 x 27 cm with 10 cm of loft - generously sized rather than the token rectangle most camping pillows offer, and enough loft for side sleepers, who need considerably more than back sleepers to keep the neck straight. Regular and Wide versions.

Packed size and weight

265 g, packing into its integrated stuff sack at 15 x 10 cm - Nemo compare it to a russet potato, which is about right. The stuff sack is built in, so there is nothing separate to lose, and the ergonomic valve sits out of the way rather than pressing into your face.

Washing it

The cover is machine washable, which matters more than it sounds. A pillow collects sunscreen, insect repellent and sweat faster than anything else you carry.
