Exposure Strada Mk12 Road Bike Light (RS / SB, AKTIV options)

The Exposure Strada Mk12 is a road bike light with two XPL2 LEDs and a road-specific beam, sold here as the 1450-lumen Road Sport AKTiv and the 1700-lumen Super Bright, with or without AKTiv. AKTiv dips the beam automatically when it senses an oncoming vehicle; every version runs 2 to 36 hours by mode.

Who it's for

Road riders who train in the dark. The Strada is built around a beam pattern for the road rather than a trail flood, and a wired remote switch lets you change modes without taking your hands off the bars.

Which version

• Road Sport AKTiv: 1450 lumens, 6,800 mAh battery, dips itself for oncoming traffic.
• Super Bright: 1700 lumens on a larger 10,200 mAh battery; you dim it yourself with the remote.
• Super Bright AKTiv: the 1700-lumen light with automatic dipping.

Two decisions: how much light, and whether it dims for you. AKTiv senses the headlights of an approaching vehicle, drops the beam, and returns to full once the vehicle has passed. Without it, you dim manually on the wired remote.

Brightness and runtime together

1450 lumens on the Road Sport AKTiv and 1700 on the Super Bright versions. Runtime runs from about 2 hours on full power to about 36 hours on the lowest setting.

Beam shape

Two LEDs combine a central spot with a flatter, wider beam for the edges of the road. Cut-outs in the head let light out the sides so you can be seen through 240 degrees. There is no hard cut-off at the top of the beam.

The graphics are reversible, so the light can be mounted either way up without changing the beam pattern, for example hanging below a computer mount.

Charging and battery

A full charge takes about 6 hours. The Road Sport AKTiv carries a 6,800 mAh Li-ion battery and the Super Bright versions 10,200 mAh.

Mounting

A quick-release handlebar bracket and the wired remote switch are supplied. The body is anodised 6063 aluminium.

Weather resistance

Rated IP65.
