Evolution Mini-9 U-Lock With Bracket 8.2cm x 24.1cm
Description
Description
The Kryptonite Evolution Mini-9 is a U-lock with a 13 mm hardened steel shackle and a hardened double deadbolt that gives additional protection against twist attacks. It carries Sold Secure Bicycle Gold, sits at 7 of 10 on Kryptonite's security rating, measures 8.3 cm by 24.1 cm, weighs 1.43 kg and comes with a FlexFrame-U bracket and three keys.
How secure it actually is
The Evolution Mini-9 holds a Sold Secure Bicycle Gold rating and rates 7 out of 10 on Kryptonite's own security scale. That makes it a serious everyday lock for a good commuter or road bike left at the uni rack, the train station or outside the office in the Brisbane CBD.
The 13 mm shackle is hardened max-performance steel, made to stand up to bolt cutters and leverage. The patent-pending hardened double deadbolt design adds protection against twist attacks. The disc-style cylinder is pick and drill resistant, and there is a sliding dustcover.
Weight against security
At 1.43 kg this is a proper lock, and the included bracket is what makes it easy to live with: it carries the lock on the bike, so you are not carrying it in a backpack on every ride.
What it locks to
The Evolution Mini-9 measures 8.3 cm by 24.1 cm. In our view that long, narrow size suits locking a frame to a bike rack or a slim post, the everyday lock-up at a station or a shopping centre. It also has a protective vinyl coating.
Keys and mounting
Three stainless steel keys come in the box, and Kryptonite's Key Safe Program lets you register them for replacements. The included FlexFrame-U bracket provides convenient multi-location U-lock transport, so you can find a spot that suits your frame.
