Description
The Deuter Speed Lite 13 is a small, light pack for moving quickly: a morning loop in the Glass House Mountains, or a day exploring a new city on holiday. Water, a layer and snacks, and nothing weighing you down.
Who it's for
Walkers, trail runners heading out at a hiking pace, and travellers who want a light, packable day bag. Deuter rate it five out of five for hiking and four for travel. The 2-5 kg recommended load is a light day: water, a shell, food and a phone.
Capacity, and what actually fits
13 litres in a 44 x 24 x 15 cm pack takes a litre or two of water, a rain jacket, lunch and a small first aid kit. The top pocket holds keys, sunscreen and a phone, and two mesh side pockets carry bottles.
How it carries
Deuter's Lite back is a slim, padded panel that hugs your back so the pack moves with you instead of swinging. Wide, perforated shoulder straps breathe on a hot climb, and a lightly elastic sternum strap that adjusts two ways keeps them in place. The waist belt steadies the pack on rough ground and unclips when you do not need it.
Fitting it
One size for back lengths of 44-54 cm, matched to walkers around 170-195 cm tall. With a small pack like this, set the shoulder straps so the base sits in the small of your back, then clip the sternum strap across your chest.
Access and organisation
- Zip-around opening to the main compartment
- Zipped top pocket with key clip
- Two mesh side pockets
- Internal wet compartment
- Attachment loops and docking loops for a helmet holder (sold separately)
Weight
390 g, light enough to roll into a suitcase as a day bag or carry all day without noticing it. For a bigger day with more layers, the Speed Lite 21 gives you more room in the same style.
Looking after it
The body is 140D recycled polyamide ripstop, made without intentionally added PFAS, and the pack is bluepass and Green Button certified. Deuter back it with a 2-year warranty.
