Togir 2.0 3 Slide Harness Men

The Mammut Togir 2.0 3 Slide Harness Men is the all-rounder: comfortable enough to hang in at a multipitch belay, light enough for the gym, with adjustable leg loops that slide over thermals on a winter trip or shorts at a summer crag. It weighs 377 g and comes in Marine, in sizes S to XL.

Mammut explains that the UIAA Safety Label ensures samples of the equipment have been tested by an accredited, independent third party and shown to meet the UIAA's standards. Mammut classifies the Togir as personal protective equipment: the instructions in the user manual must be read before and followed during use.

What it is for

Mammut gives the Togir full marks for gym, sport and multipitch climbing, which makes it the harness for climbers who do a bit of everything: after-work sessions at the wall, a weekend clipping bolts in the Blue Mountains, and the long multi-pitch days on Tasmania's dolerite or the Grampians' sandstone. Two ice clipper slots mean it can come along on an ice or alpine trip as well.

Split webbing is the comfort story. The webbing divides into two strands through the waist belt and leg loops, spreading your weight and easing pressure points, which is what you notice an hour into a hanging belay.

Weight

377 g. Reducing weight was a key focus for this edition of the Togir: only the primary gear loops are reinforced, which makes them especially easy to clip, while the rear ones are soft and lighter.

Sizing

Measure your waist where the harness sits, over the layers you climb in, then the top of your thigh:

• S: waist 67–77 cm, leg 50–58 cm
• M: waist 73–85 cm, leg 54–62 cm
• L: waist 80–92 cm, leg 57–67 cm
• XL: waist 86–100 cm, leg 60–70 cm

The leg loops adjust, so choose on your waist measurement first.

Handling

Four gear loops and two ice clipper slots give plenty of rack space. It has Slide-Bloc buckles and an easy-to-use metal buckle, a haul loop, a chalk bag attachment and functional drop-seat buckles. A carry bag is included.

Inspection

The tie-in loop carries an indicator that shows when the harness needs to be replaced, and is protected by high-quality plastic against abrasive wear to extend its service life. Check the indicator, webbing and buckles before every climb.
