Description
The Tango 4:3 is Orca's full-length men's surf wetsuit for cold water: a chest-zip steamer in 100% Yamamoto neoprene with a warm inner lining, sealed seams and reinforced knees.
Who it's for
Surfers who want to stay out longer when the water turns cold. Surfing is what Orca built the Tango 4:3 for. It also handles stand up paddling, kayaking and snorkelling without trouble, though it is not designed around them. It is not a swimming or triathlon suit: Orca advises against triathlon and swimrun in it, as that use can shorten the life of the neoprene and is not covered by the warranty.
Warmth and seal
- Thickness: 4 mm Yamamoto neoprene through the torso and legs, 3 mm across the upper body.
- Lining: Thermal-X through the torso, which retains your body heat.
- Seams: glued and blind-stitched (GBS), then taped on the inside to keep water out.
- Seals: Smoothskin at the neck and wrists clings to your skin so cold water stays outside.
- Entry: a chest zip with a YKK zipper, which seals at the neck while leaving the shoulders free.
Flexibility and durability
Orca puts DS 40+ in the shoulders and back: stretchy Yamamoto 40 with a DuraSkin outer and a soft Infinity Skin 2 lining. The torso uses DS 39X, Yamamoto 39 with DuraSkin and Thermal-X. DuraSkin stands up to rubbing from your board, and Shield+ panels protect the knees, the spot that wears first.
Getting the size right
This listing is size 11. On Orca's chart, size 11 suits a chest of 123–134 cm, a height of 193–200 cm and a weight of 107 kg or more.
Looking after neoprene
Rinse the suit in plenty of fresh water after every session, with a little pH-neutral soap if you like. Dry it out of direct sun somewhere airy, and rinse it before you travel with it. Do not leave it in a hot car or crushed in a bag, and store it hanging from the middle or on a wide hanger.
