Description
Gear Aid Revivex Boot and Shoe Cleaner is the first step in any boot care routine: a concentrated cleaner that gets caked mud, salt marks and oils out of leather, suede, nubuck, canvas and GORE-TEX footwear. Removing dirt and oils helps waterproof-breathable footwear breathe, and a clean boot is the right starting point for the next coat of Revivex water repellent. A little goes a long way from the 118 ml bottle.
What it fixes
- Mud-caked hiking boots after a wet weekend in the Blue Mountains
- White salt tide marks on leather after creek crossings or beach walks
- Grimy trail runners and everyday shoes
- Dirt and oil sitting in GORE-TEX and other waterproof-breathable footwear
It is gentle enough to clean leather without damaging it, and works on full-grain leather, nubuck, suede and canvas uppers alike. It is a cleaner only: once boots are clean, follow up with a Revivex water repellent to restore the waterproofing.
How to use it
- Knock off loose dirt and take the laces out.
- Wet the upper, then work a small amount of cleaner over it with a soft brush or cloth.
- Rinse the boots clean with fresh water.
- If you are re-proofing, apply your Revivex water repellent as its label directs, and let the boots dry naturally.
Gear Aid gives no set method beyond hand washing; the steps above are our usual routine. The formula is concentrated, so start with a little and add more only for heavy grime. Hand wash only. It is freeze-thaw stable and made in the USA.
Looking after it
Clean boots after any muddy or salty trip rather than letting grime dry in. We stock this cleaner because boots that get cleaned and re-proofed simply last longer, and a good pair of leather boots is worth looking after.
