Description
The Lezyne Rap II is a folding bike multi-tool built around machined aluminium side plates and longer hardened steel bits, finished with Lezyne's Black Anti-Corrosion Technology. We stock three versions on this page: the slim Rap II 6 for the quick adjustments, the Rap II 18 that fixes a broken chain as well, and the Rap II 19 CO2 that also inflates the tyre.
What it actually does
Rap II 6: hex keys in 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, a Torx T25 and a Phillips head. That covers stems, seat post clamps, bottle cages, cleats and most disc rotor bolts, the everyday bolts on a modern bike.
Rap II 18: hex keys in 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm, Torx T10 and T25, a Phillips head, a chain breaker, 8 mm and 10 mm wrenches, spoke wrenches and quick-link storage. This is the one for a long day in the Victorian high country or out on the gravel west of Brisbane, where a snapped chain means walking home.
Rap II 19 CO2: the hex keys in 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, Torx T10 and T25, a Phillips head, the chain breaker, 8 mm and 10 mm wrenches, spoke wrenches, quick-link storage and a CO2 dispenser, so a flat and a broken chain are both sorted from one tool. Carry tyre levers alongside any of the three, as none of them has levers built in.
Size, weight and carrying
- Rap II 6: 82.6 g, 81.3 x 26.2 x 19.6 mm
- Rap II 18: 148.5 g, 81.2 x 47.5 x 19.3 mm
- Rap II 19 CO2: 158 g, 81.6 x 48.1 x 30.7 mm
All three are about 81 mm long. The 6 slips into a jersey pocket with room to spare and suits road riders who want the bare minimum. The 18 and 19 CO2 are wider to carry the chain tool, and sit comfortably in a saddle bag, a frame bag or the tool pocket of a hydration pack.
Build quality
The side plates are machined aluminium, shaped to sit in the hand when you lean on a stubborn bolt. The bits are long, hardened steel, so they reach recessed bolts behind a stem cap or deep inside a frame without the side plates getting in the way. Lezyne's Black Anti-Corrosion Technology finish on the steel is there for exactly the conditions riders here see: sweat, rain and the salt air on a coast ride. On the 18 and 19 CO2, a magnetic holder in the side plate keeps a spare quick link ready for a trailside chain repair.
