Mosquito Pyramid Net

The Sea to Summit Mosquito Pyramid Net puts a mosquito net over any bed. Tie off one cord to a hook, a beam or a branch, spread the four colour-coded corners and tuck the edges under the mattress. Then you sleep behind black hexagonal mesh, and in the morning it packs back into its own stuff sack.

What it is

A pyramid-shaped net with one suspension point and no frame or poles. The peak sits off-centre, closer to the head end, so there is more room to sit up and read where you need it. The base has an overlapping flap that tucks under a mattress or lies flat on the floor to close the gaps. There is no zip door: lift an edge, slide in, drop it behind you. The hanging height adjusts to suit the ceiling.

Who it's for

Travellers and campers sleeping somewhere with mosquitoes and no screens: a hostel or hotel room, or a cot or sleeping mat at camp. Sea to Summit design it to hang from a room ceiling, and it sets up anywhere there is one overhead point above the bed. Under a tarp there is usually nowhere central to hang it and not enough height, so for tarp camping the Escapist Inner Bug Tent is the one to look at.

Looking after it

A spray-on or wash-in permethrin treatment will not harm the mesh, if you want an extra layer of protection.
