Description

Sea to Summit Ground Control Light Tent Pegs are six ultralight tent pegs with a TriPoint profile, made from anodised 7075-T6 aluminium. Each peg is 15 cm long and weighs 7 g, and each carries a reflective pull-cord.

What it does

The TriPoint shape pairs a wide front face with a short, stiff spine. The face gives the peg plenty of surface to bite into loose soil, grass or sandy ground; the spine stops it flexing when you lean on it or tap it in with a rock.

Down the top of each peg is a row of notches. On baked clay or a stony platform where the peg will only go in partway, hook the guy cord into a lower notch so the pull stays close to the ground and the peg holds rather than levering out. When the trip is over, the reflective pull-cord gives you something to grab, and it catches a head torch beam if a peg is lying in the grass after dark.

Which tents it fits

These are the pegs Sea to Summit supplies as standard with every Alto and Telos tent, so they are the exact match if you have lost or bent one of the originals. They are also ordinary stake-out pegs, so they work in the loops, rings and guy lines of any tent, tarp or ultralight shelter. We'd carry a couple of extras in the pack for windy sites, where more pegs and guy lines give the shelter extra bracing.

Weight and packed size

At 7 g a peg, six Ground Control Light pegs make almost no difference to a pack weight. Bundled together they pack to 4 x 4 x 15 cm and slide into the side of a tent stuff sack.
