Description

The Deuter Jaypack Pro 34+14 is a camera bag that goes where the shot is. Your bodies and lenses ride in a padded modular insert, your skis ride on the outside, and when the light turns you can open the pack under its own weather screen and change lenses without snow in the sensor.

Who it's for

Outdoor photographers and filmmakers who hike or ski to their locations. Deuter rate it five out of five for camera work and for hiking. Think a dawn shoot on the Main Range above Thredbo, a hike to Cradle Mountain's Marions Lookout with a full kit, or a travel assignment where the laptop needs to come too. The 6-10 kg recommended load covers a full camera kit plus water and layers.

Capacity, and what actually fits

34 litres in a 56 x 32 x 21 cm body, with a roll-top that extends the volume. The modular main compartment arranges around your setup: a body or two, several lenses, filters and a drone, for example. A removable organiser unit takes a laptop, tablet and documents, the front pocket holds avalanche gear, and a fleece-lined pocket keeps goggles scratch-free.

How it carries

The Alpine back system hugs your back for a compact, stable carry, with ventilation channels and breathable mesh to move air. A flexi spring steel frame spreads the load to padded hip fins with Pull-Forward adjustment and a zipped hip fin pocket. Stabiliser straps and a 2-way adjustable, detachable sternum strap keep it settled when you are skiing or scrambling.

Fitting it

One size for back lengths of 44-54 cm, which Deuter match to people around 170-195 cm tall. Set the hip fins on your hip bones first, then the shoulder straps and stabilisers; with a heavy camera load, a well-set hip belt makes the difference at the end of a long day.

Access and organisation

Three ways in. The lockable back panel unzips all the way around for full access to the camera insert, so you can open it with the pack face-down and the harness clean. A long side zip lets you pull a camera out without taking the pack off your shoulder. And the roll-top loads from above. When the main compartment is propped open, the built-in weather screen shields your kit from snow, rain and dust.

  • Lockable zip-around back panel, side access and roll-top
  • Pop-up weather screen
  • Removable organiser for laptop, tablet and documents
  • Front avalanche equipment pocket; fleece-lined goggles pocket
  • Ski attachment at the side; snowboard and snowshoe attachment on the front

Weight

2500 g empty. The padded insert, reinforced base and corners and TPU-coated fabric are what protect several thousand dollars of camera gear on a mountain, and the stable base lets it stand upright while you shoot.

Looking after it

The body combines 100D polyamide ripstop with tough 420D TPU-coated polyamide ripstop and a water-repellent base, finished without intentionally added PFAS.
