Description

The Deuter Guide 32+6 SL is a stripped-back, tough alpine pack in Deuter's women's fit. It carries a rack, a rope and axes on the approach, then sheds its lid, hip fins and backplate for the climb itself.

Who it's for

Women who climb and mountaineer: multi-pitch days at Frog Buttress and Mount Arapiles, winter routes on the Main Range, alpine trips across the ditch in Aoraki or Wānaka. Deuter rate it five out of five for both climbing and mountaineering, and three out of five for ski touring and snowshoeing. The recommended 6-12 kg covers a full technical day kit.

Capacity, and what actually fits

32 litres holds a rack, harness, belay jacket, shell, food and water, with a rope strapped under the lid or across the top. Raise the height-adjustable lid and you have another 6 litres for an extra layer. The pack measures 66 x 28 x 24 cm, a narrow profile that keeps your arms free on the rock.

How it carries

The Alpine back system pairs an ergonomic backplate with a flexi spring steel frame, so the pack hugs your back for balance on exposed ground. Ventilation channels between the back pads, covered in breathable mesh, move air on the walk in. ActiveFit shoulder straps and VariFlex hip fins with Pull-Forward adjustment follow your movement, and side compression straps pull the load in close to your centre of gravity.

Fitting it

The Guide 32+6 SL fits back lengths of 38-48 cm, which Deuter match to women about 158-178 cm tall. The SL harness is shaped for the female body. Wear it over the layers you climb in; the hip fins come off entirely when you need the pack to sit above a climbing harness.

Access and organisation

Load it from the top under a drawcord and lid, or open the J-shaped front zip to reach the bottom of the pack without unpacking. The lid pocket takes snacks, a head torch and the topo. Hip fins carry a zipped pocket, gear loops and ice clipper slots.

  • Top-loader with drawcord and height-adjustable, detachable lid
  • J-shaped front zip access
  • Detachable hip fins with gear loops, ice clipper slots and zipped pocket
  • Ice axe attachment on both sides; ski attachment at the side; rope strap
  • Detachable mesh helmet holder
  • Hydration compatible, up to 3 L; safety whistle

Weight

1150 g as sold, and lighter again with the lid, hip fins and backplate removed. We stock the Guide SL because a full-feature alpine pack cut for women is the right tool for the job.

Looking after it

The body is ripstop recycled polyamide and polyester, built to resist abrasion against rock, with a finish made without intentionally added PFAS. The pack is bluepass and Green Button certified. Deuter cover it with a 2-year warranty.
