Description

The Deuter Duffel Pro 90 is a big, tough bag for trips where your luggage gets thrown in the back of a ute, strapped to a roof rack or dropped on a wet airstrip. The fabric is TPU-coated polyester that shrugs off dirt and moisture, and the shoulder straps turn it into a backpack for the walk from the bus.

Who it's for

Travellers with a lot of kit: a dive or ski trip, a fortnight driving the Savannah Way, a season job up north, or the gear haul to a remote hut. Deuter rate it five out of five for travel. If you need a bag that can sit in red dirt or a boat hull and still hold up, this is the one.

Capacity and what fits

90 litres and 34 x 80 x 40 cm of space: a sleeping bag, a tent, boots and a week or two of clothes, or ski boots, a helmet and layers. Internal compression straps hold clothes in place so the load does not slump to one end. Deuter recommend a load of 12-15 kg.

Wheels, chassis and carrying

No wheels and no frame, which keeps it light and lets it squash into a car boot. Carry it by the two grab handles, or clip the shoulder straps together into a single carry handle. For longer walks, wear it as a backpack, then release the straps from below and stow them in their pocket so nothing snags on a baggage belt.

Organisation inside

The main compartment opens with a wide, round arch zip, so you can see everything at once rather than digging through a slot. An inner mesh pocket keeps small items together, a zipped side pocket holds toiletries or a wet towel, and a key clip stops keys disappearing. The main zip has a fixed point for a lock.

Durability and weight

1500 g empty. The 600D polyester with TPU coating comes from tarpaulin material, built to resist tears and abrasion, and the finish is made without intentionally added PFAS. The bag is bluepass and Green Button certified, and Deuter cover it with a 2-year warranty.
