The Deuter Bike Bag 0.5 is the smallest bag that earns a place on your bike: a light zippered pouch under the saddle that carries the things you only need when something goes wrong.
Who it's for
Riders who want their pockets empty. Road riders on a Sunday bunch ride, gravel riders on the back roads of the Scenic Rim, mountain bikers who would rather not have a tube bouncing in their jersey. Deuter rate it five out of five for both mountain and road or gravel riding.
Fitting it to your bike
Hook-and-loop straps fix the bag under your saddle, so it moves between bikes in seconds with no brackets to fit. Pull the straps tight so the bag sits snug against the saddle and does not swing when you get out of the seat.
Capacity and what fits
At 8 x 9 x 15 cm, it takes a rolled spare inner tube, a couple of tyre levers, keys and a card or some cash. That is a roadside flat repair and a coffee, and nothing you will be tempted to over-pack.
Weatherproofing
The underside, which cops the spray off your rear wheel, is made from a durable, washable material, and the zip closes the bag fully. A reflective 3M print faces backwards for visibility in low light. If you ride through heavy rain often, slip your phone and cash into a small zip bag inside.
Looking after it
Sand and dust trapped between bag and bike can dull the paint over time, so a strip of protective film on the seatpost where the bag touches is cheap insurance. The fabric is 100D recycled polyamide with a finish made without intentionally added PFAS.
