Description

The Sea to Summit Camp Dinnerware Set is a six-piece camp dinnerware kit for one person: a plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork and spoon, with a carabiner for the cutlery and a mesh sack to carry and dry it all. It weighs 216 g, is made from glass-reinforced polypropylene and takes boiling water straight from the pot.

Who it's for

This is a complete place setting for one, so it suits the solo walker heading out on the Australian Alps Walking Track as much as a paddling crew on a multi-day river trip, where everyone carries their own. Buy one per person and the three colourways, Cabbage, Burnt Orange and Charcoal, make it easy to tell whose bowl is whose when dinner is served at dusk.

Steep, vertical sidewalls on the bowl and plate help keep stew and noodles in when you are eating off your knees on a log. The EasyGrip textured surface on the plate, bowl and cup gives you a secure hold with gloves on, or when your hands are cold and wet after a morning on the water.

Materials and heat

The plate, bowl and cup are polypropylene reinforced with 5% glass fill, and the knife, fork and spoon step up to 30% glass fill. The carabiner is aluminium and the sack is nylon mesh.

Pour boiling water straight in for porridge, instant noodles or a cup of tea: polypropylene melts at a temperature well above boiling, so a full billy will not hurt it. Every piece is free of BPA, PFOA and PTFE and meets EU food-grade standards.

Packing and nesting

The cup drops into the bowl, the bowl sits on the plate, and the knife, fork and spoon clip together on the carabiner so they stay together and are easy to find in your pack. The whole stack slides into the mesh sack at 22.3 × 22.3 × 9 cm, a neat parcel that saves room in a hiking pack or camp kitchen box.

Cleaning

The curve where the base meets the wall of the bowl and plate is shaped to match Sea to Summit spoons and sporks, so you can scrape out the last mouthful. After a rinse, everything goes back into the mesh sack, which lets air through to help the set dry.
