Description
The Mammut Aenergy TR 5 Men is a trail running vest built light: 180 g, with two soft flasks included up front, a sleeve for a hydration bladder, a zipped back pocket and drop-in pockets for your gels and bars. It adjusts at the chest and at the sides, and this listing is the XS-S size in Black-Cloud.
Who it's for
Runners who want water and fuel on them without the weight of a pack. Tempo runs on the Gold Coast hinterland trails, a long morning in the Glass House Mountains, a fast lap of the Blue Mountains tracks. Mammut rates it first for trail running, then mountain training, and it works for fast hikes too.
Carrying water and fuel
The two soft flasks come with the vest and ride in holders on the chest, where you can drink on the move without breaking stride. For longer outings, a bladder slides into the hydration sleeve at the back and the tube runs over your shoulder. The zipped back pocket keeps a wind shell, keys and phone secure, and the two drop-in pockets put a gel or a bar in reach every few kilometres. There is a trekking pole carrier for the steep climbs too.
Fit and layering
Wide, shaped shoulder straps spread the load, and adjusters at the chest and sides let you snug it down until it stops moving. Set the sides first with the flasks full, then fine-tune across the chest.
This is the XS-S size: 43 cm tall and 32 cm wide, cut for Mammut's back length S, 43.5 cm. Wear it over a running tee or a thin long-sleeve; it sits close, like a vest should.
Fabric and construction
The shell and base fabric are 100% polyester in a light, breathable build, with open mesh across the chest so it does not trap heat on a humid Queensland morning.
Packability and weight
180 g, light enough that you forget it is there until you reach for a drink.
