Description

Revivex Durable Water Repellent is a spray-on treatment that restores the DWR coating on technical gear such as GORE-TEX jackets, rainwear, and ski pants. The PFAS-free formula repels water, dirt, and stains, maximizes breathability, and can be washed and air-dried.

Over time, DWR on technical gear wears off, and the fabric gets dirty and absorbs water. Regular reproofing treatment of rainwear, soft shells, ski pants, and GORE-TEX jackets is highly recommended to continuously repel water. Whatever your adventure is, Revivex Durable Water Repellent provides protection in rain and snow.

Durable – Spray-on treatment restores DWR, resists abrasion and repels water, dirt, and stains

Maximizes Breathability – Creates water resistant layer and allows waterproof-breathable garments to perform at their best.

Washable – Ideal for outerwear and ski gear, this DWR coating will remain after a wash and can be air dried or heat set.

Compatible – Designed for technical fabrics including eVent, NeoShell and GORE-TEX materials; formula is PFAS-free with zero fluorocarbons.

Multipurpose – Restore water repellency to DWR treated rainwear, jackets, ski pants, gloves, boots, waders, and nylon tent flys.

FAQ's

1. How long does Revivex last?

Able to last for up to an incredible 10 years or more, optimal longevity of Revivex DWR coating is best achieved when the item that is coated is stored properly and well cared for. For items that are worn consistently season after season, such as jackets and ski pants, more frequent applications are recommended.

2. How do you use Revivex DWR spray?

Proper application of Revivex DWR is best achieved by following these steps:

  1. First, hand-wash or launder the item in question using Revivex Pro Cleaner. This helps to remove any residues and properly prepare the fabric for coating and optimal performance following treatment. Avoid using heavy soaps or fabric softeners when washing the item as these can ‘clog’ the fabric and stop the DWR from properly adhering to the fabric.
  2. Once washed, hang the garment in a well-ventilated arena smoothing out any obvious creases and wrinkles.
  3. While still wet, spray the item with the Revivex DWR spray. Use even sweeping motions and avoid getting too close to the fabric. If you see the spray running off the fabric, the application is too close and too heavy.
  4. Finally, allow the item to air dry for up to 48 hours or should the manufacturing instructions allow, place it in the dryer. Once dry, the water repellency of the garment should be fully restored.

3. Is DWR the same as Gore-Tex?

No, Gore-Tex is a technical fabric that is often treated with DRW products to reduce surface tension and allow water to roll off. DRW is a chemical coating that can be used on any number of items and is not exclusive to Gore-Tex.

4. Is spray-on waterproofing better than wash-in waterproofing?

Spray-on waterproofing is not worse or better than in-wash waterproofing, it is simply a matter of using the correct method for the item in question. Spray-on waterproofing is most often used on multi-layer garments where in-wash waterproofing would cause alterations to fabrics that are not intended to be waterproofed.

5. How do I reactivate my DWR coating?

For garments made of technical fabrics such as Gore-Tex which have already been treated with DRW, you may not need to reapply an after-market water repellant. If you feel the water repellency of your garment has been compromised or it no longer performs as expected you may like to try reactivating the existing DRW coating first. To do this, launder the garment with a clean rinsing detergent - remember, no fabric softeners or heavy suds that can clog the fabric. Then, so long as the manufacturer's care instructions allow, place the item in the dryer. This process can often restore the original waterproofing. Should you notice the water repellency is not restored following a good clean and dry, then pursuing an after-market DRW spray is recommended.
