Description
Description
The Silva Pocket Compass is the compass that comes along every time: a small, curvy black body with a needle and a thermometer, hanging off a carabiner on your pack strap, belt loop or keys. Glance down and you know which way is north and how cold it is.
Who it's for
Walkers and campers who want a quick sense of direction, and navigators who want a backup in the pocket in case the main compass goes missing. It is a direction finder, not a map tool: for taking bearings off a topographic map, pair it with a baseplate compass such as the Silva Ranger.
Accuracy and features
- Precise needle that settles fast for a quick reading.
- Cardinal and intercardinal points on a black dial.
- Thermometer with Celsius and Fahrenheit scales.
- Carabiner hook and key ring for clipping on.
Using it in the field
Hold it flat in your palm, let the needle settle and turn until the needle lines up with N. At 5.7 x 4.7 x 0.9 cm it disappears into a pocket or rides on a zip pull, so it is there when you need it.
Durability
Silva classify it as waterproof, so rain and wet weather will not stop it working.
