Kryptoflex 410 Looped Cable 120cm x 10mm (2T)
Description
Description
A U-lock holds the frame, but the front wheel, the saddle and the helmet hanging off the bars are still easy pickings. The Kryptonite KryptoFlex 410 Looped Cable closes that gap. It is 120 cm of 10 mm braided steel cable with a closed loop at each end: run it through whatever the U-lock cannot reach, feed both loops over the shackle, lock up, and the whole bike is tied together.
What it is
A double loop security cable that works with a Kryptonite U-lock, disc lock or padlock. It has no lock of its own.
Who it's for
Anyone who already carries a U-lock and wants the rest of the bike covered. Commuters locking up outside the office in Brisbane, riders leaving a bike at a café on a Sunday loop through the Gold Coast hinterland, and families locking two bikes together at a campground all get more from their U-lock with one of these threaded through it. If you ride without a U-lock or padlock, a cable lock with its own combination is the one to look at instead.
Key details
- Length: 120 cm, long enough to pass through a front wheel and back to a U-lock on the frame, or to link a second bike.
- Thickness: 10 mm of braided steel strands, built for increased cut resistance.
- Weight: 0.32 kg, light enough to coil in a pannier or wrap around the seat post and forget about.
- Cover: a protective vinyl sleeve over the full length of the steel, so bare cable is not rubbing on your frame.
- Loops: a loop at each end, made for Kryptonite U-locks, disc locks and padlocks.
How to use it
Lock the frame to something solid with your U-lock first. Pass the KryptoFlex cable through the front wheel, and the saddle rails if you want those covered too, then slip both loops over the open shackle before you close the U-lock. Keep the whole lot off the ground where you can.
