Description

Same self-unfolding carbon pole as the standard Vario Summit, set ten centimetres shorter through the band. If your walking length sits under about 122 cm, this is the version that fits you properly and weighs less doing it.

Pick the band, not the pole

The Compact and the standard Vario Summit are the same design, the same mechanism and the same grip. The only real question is where your walking length falls: under about 122 cm and the Compact is your pole; above it, take the standard.

Click and fix

The FX Lite mechanism pulls all four sections together on its own. You close one Powerlock 3.0 and start walking. Folding it away is just as quick, which is what makes a folding pole worth having on ground where the poles keep going on and off the pack.

Cork, and an extended grip zone

Trek Pro 245 cork sits cool and dry under the hand, and the grip zone runs down the shaft so a steep section is handled by dropping your hand rather than re-setting the clamp.

Weight

454 g the pair (227 g per pole).

FAQ's

How much do they weigh - is that per pole or the pair?
454 g for the pair, and 227 g per pole if you are matching against a spec sheet.

How is this different from the standard Vario Summit?
A shorter adjustment band - 105-125 cm against 115-135 cm - and a slightly smaller packed size, which makes it lighter. Same mechanism, same grip, same shafts.

Which should I buy?
Measure your walking length with your elbow at 90 degrees. Under about 122 cm, take the Compact. Above that, take the standard Vario Summit.

How small does it fold?
40 cm folded, which fits inside most daypacks rather than being strapped to the outside.

Does it adjust, or is it fixed?
Yes - the Powerlock 3.0 gives you a 20 cm band, 105 to 125 cm, which is unusual on a pole that folds this small.

What is the FX Lite Carbon Vario Summit Compact's shaft made of?
The Komperdell FX Lite Carbon Vario Summit Compact is carbon through all four sections, 18 and 16 mm across. The sections fold to 40 cm on the FX Lite mechanism, and a forged aluminium Powerlock 3.0 clamp sets the length between 105 and 125 cm.
