Description

Click and fix - that is the whole drill. The FX Lite mechanism unfolds the pole on its own, you close the Powerlock at your length, and you are walking. Four carbon sections fold to 41 cm, small enough to live inside a daypack until the ground gets steep.

Folding that adjusts

A folding pole normally means fixed length. The Vario Summit keeps a Powerlock 3.0 on the top section, so you get a 20 cm adjustment band and a 41 cm packed size in the same pole. That combination is the reason to buy this one.

Cork where your hand sits

The Trek Pro 245 grip is cork, with an extended grip zone running down the shaft. Cork stays cool and dry as the day heats up and moulds to your hand over the first few walks, and the extension means a steep pitch is handled by moving your hand, not by stopping.

Carbon through all four sections

18 and 16 mm carbon throughout, so the pole is stiff under load and quiet on rocky ground. The FX Lite mechanism runs on an internal cord that pulls the sections into a solid column.

Weight

472 g the pair (236 g per pole).

FAQ's

How much do they weigh - is that per pole or the pair?
472 g for the pair, and 236 g per pole if you are matching against a spec sheet.

How does it unfold?
Release it and the sections drop into place on the internal cord - click, then fix the Powerlock at your length. No shaking or seating by hand.

What length range?
115 cm to 135 cm, which covers most adult walkers on mixed terrain.

How small does it fold?
41 cm - it will go inside a daypack rather than strapped to the outside.

Cork or foam grip?
The Vario Summit uses cork, which stays cool and dry in heat and shapes to your hand over time. If you would rather have foam, the FX Lite Carbon Vario Approach is the same pole with the foam grip.

What is the FX Lite Carbon Vario Summit's shaft made of?
The Komperdell FX Lite Carbon Vario Summit is carbon through all four sections, 18 and 16 mm across. The sections fold to 41 cm on the FX Lite mechanism, and a forged aluminium Powerlock 3.0 clamp sets the length between 115 and 135 cm.
