Exposure Revo MK5

The Exposure Revo MK5 is a 2000 lumen front bike light that runs off an AC dynamo hub and a 1600 mAh internal battery. Pre-charge it by USB-C and you have full brightness from the first pedal stroke; once the wheel turns, the dynamo keeps it running and can charge your phone or GPS through its USB-C port.

Who it's for

The Revo MK5 is for riders who are tired of planning a trip around charge points. Bikepackers on a week of gravel through the Victorian high country, tourers heading up the coast, and daily commuters who never want to think about a flat light again all get the same thing: a front light that keeps going as long as you keep pedalling. Pair it with a dynamo front wheel and the light, your navigation and your phone all draw from the same source.

Brightness and runtime together

Dynamo lights traditionally dim at walking pace. The Revo MK5 gets around that with its internal battery: charge it before you leave and it holds the output steady through slow climbs, traffic lights and technical sections. You choose how it shares power between two programs:

• Battery Priority (Program 1, Ultra Mode): output follows dynamo input, surplus tops up the internal battery, and once the battery is above 40% the USB-C port will charge your devices. Built for multi-day trips.
• Light Priority (Program 2, MTB Mode): constant output regardless of speed, drawing on the dynamo and the battery together. Built for commutes and shorter rides where steady brightness matters most.

Each program has three outputs, including a DayBright flash for daytime visibility. When you stop, the battery takes over as a standlight so you stay visible at the lights.

Beam shape

A 12 degree collimated spot lens throws a symmetrical beam more than 50 metres down the road or trail. It is a focused, reach-first beam, which suits fast gravel descents and dark country roads where you want time to read what is coming.

Charging and battery

• Internal battery: 1600 mAh, fully charged in 1.5 hours over USB-C.
• Power out: USB-C, 1.5 A, for a phone, GPS or bike computer.
• Dynamo input: works with most AC dynamo hubs.
• Rear light port: a dedicated USB-C port for Exposure's RedEye rear light, which switches on automatically with the Revo.

Off the bike, the Revo MK5 doubles as a handheld torch for repairs, and stood on its end it lights up camp.

Mounting

The light slides onto Exposure's handlebar bracket on a cleat and locks in with a spring pin. The bracket suits 31.8 mm bars, and 35 mm bars once you remove the rubber shim. Mount it as close to the stem as you can.

Weather resistance

Rated IP68, the Revo MK5 survives 30 minutes underwater, and its IK09 rating means it withstands a 10 joule impact. The CNC-machined 6063 aluminium body is hard anodised, the whole light weighs under 150 g, and it operates from -20 to 40 °C.

Looking after it

Wipe it down with lukewarm soapy water and rinse it with fresh water after salt spray or a beach ride. Before the light sits idle for a season, charge it fully and top it up every six to eight weeks.
