Description
Description
The Deuter Xberg 25 rides on the rack and walks in on your back. Clip it to your pannier rack for the ride, unclip it at the door, flip the back panel and carry it into the office like any backpack.
Who it's for
Bike commuters who would rather the bike carried the load. Deuter rate it five out of five for commuting and everyday use, and three for touring. Picture the ride along the Gold Coast Oceanway to work, a weekly shop on the bike, or a uni commute where you need your bag on your back between classes.
Capacity, and what actually fits
25 litres, 50 x 30 x 21 cm, and the roll-top extends by another 5 litres when you pick up groceries on the way home. A removable organiser keeps pens, chargers and keys sorted, a stretch front pocket takes a jacket, and the front pouch holds a helmet once you are off the bike.
How it carries
On the bike, the BagFix quick-release system clips onto your rack. Off the bike, fold the lower half of the back panel up, fix it with press studs, and the Contact back and padded, ventilated shoulder straps are ready to wear. A reinforced base takes the knocks of being set down on footpaths.
Fitting it
Deuter list the Xberg 25 for back lengths of 38-54 cm and people around 158-195 cm tall. On the bike, mount it far enough back that your heel clears it as you pedal, and protect the rack with film where the bag touches.
Access and organisation
The roll-top closes with a buckle, and the lid has universal attachment points for a light or a lock. A side smartphone pocket and a zipped side pocket keep small things handy, and reflective details help drivers see you.
