Description
The Black Diamond Deploy 325 Run Light is a low-profile, USB-C rechargeable headlamp made for running: light, flat enough to sit under the brim of a cap, and bright enough for the dark stretch of an early training loop or the last few kilometres home after work.
Who it's for
Runners who head out before sunrise or after dark and want a light that disappears into a pocket when it is not needed. It suits the 5 am hill reps, the Tuesday night trail group in the Gold Coast hinterland, and the long run that starts in daylight and finishes under street lights. The slim shape and flexible wing band keep it steady, and light foam padding stops it pressing into your forehead.
Brightness and runtime together
There are three levels. High is 325 lumens and runs for 2.5 hours, plenty for a long session on unlit trail. Medium drops to 180 lumens and runs for 4.3 hours, which suits footpaths and fire roads. Low is 6 lumens and lasts 30 hours, enough to find your keys or tie your laces at the car without dazzling anyone.
Beam shape
The Deploy 325 has a variable angle lens: press the button and the beam angle changes to suit the ground in front of you, whether that is a steep technical descent or a flat city street. On High it reaches 52 m, on Medium 40 m and on Low 7 m.
Charging and battery
A built-in 680 mAh lithium-ion battery charges through a USB-C port in about 3 hours 30 minutes, so the same cable as your phone does the job. You can top it up at any charge level without running it flat first, and charging stops by itself once it is full.
Mounting
The Deploy 325 rides on a flexible wing band with a reflective strip, which gives drivers and cyclists something to catch in their lights from every side, not just the front.
Weather resistance
The Deploy 325 is rated IPX4, so rain, sweat and a summer storm on the way home are all fine. Take it off before you swim.
Looking after it
Use the digital lock before the Deploy 325 goes into a pocket or bag, so it cannot switch itself on and arrive flat at the start of your run.
