Description
The Sea to Summit Camp Cutlery Set is a full-sized knife, fork and spoon that clip together on a mini carabiner. The three pieces weigh 33.5 g together, are BPA-free and non-PFAS, handle boiling water without softening, and go through the dishwasher. The long handles are easy to hold with cold hands or gloves on.
Who it's for
Anyone who has tried to eat a camp dinner with a tiny folding spork. This cutlery set is proper size: a fork that holds noodles, a spoon deep enough for soup and a serrated knife for cheese, salami and the onion for tonight's curry. It suits weekend campers, school camp kits, bushwalkers and families who want each person's set to stay together. Clip a set to each pack and nobody argues over who has the spoon.
It comes in Charcoal, Cabbage, Burnt Orange and Cendre Blue, which makes it easy to give each person their own colour.
Materials and heat
Each piece is a tough, BPA-free composite plastic that is free of PFAS and PFOA and made from new, not recycled, material. It is heat stable, so stirring a pot of boiling water or eating a steaming stew will not soften or warp it. The cutlery is light at 33.5 g for the three pieces, yet stiff enough to dig into a dense porridge without flexing.
Packing and nesting
The handles are shaped so the knife, fork and spoon nest neatly against each other, and a hole at the end of each handle lets the mini carabiner hold them as one bundle. Clip the set to a pack loop, a food bag or the side of the camp kitchen box and it is always where you left it. Packed in its retail card the set measures 26.7 x 3.8 x 3 cm and weighs 48 g.
Cleaning
At home the Camp Cutlery Set goes straight in the dishwasher. At camp, a scrub in hot water is all it needs, and because the plastic is fine with boiling water you can scald it clean after a greasy meal.
