Backloader Wishbone

The Topeak BackLoader Wishbone is a 190 g aluminium and stainless steel frame that bolts to your saddle rails and holds a large seat pack rigid, so it stops swaying on climbs. The Topeak BackLoader Wishbone suits BackLoader bags under 18 cm wide and adds two bottle cage mounts, each rated to 1 kg.

What it is

A wishbone-shaped saddle mount that sits under the saddle and cradles your seat pack from the sides. A loaded seat pack hangs out behind the saddle, and every pedal stroke out of the saddle sets it swinging. The Wishbone braces it from the rails, so the bag moves with the bike instead of against it.

Who it's for

Bikepackers running a big Topeak BackLoader on multi-day rides, where the seat pack carries the sleeping bag and the wobble gets worse with every kilo. It earns its place on long, loaded days like the Munda Biddi or the Mawson Trail, and the two extra bottle mounts help on the dry stretches between water. If you run a small saddle bag or a light day load, you will not need it.

Looking after it

Check the saddle rail clamp bolts after the first ride and again before a big trip, as rails can settle once loaded. Rinse off dust and mud after a gravel day so grit does not wear the bag where it rests on the bars.
