The 4 mm chamois is made for triathlon, comfortable on the bike and quick-drying, so it suits sprint and Olympic distance racing and long training days alike. If you want a plain cycling short for long road rides only, a thicker bike chamois will suit you better; if you race all three legs, this is the one.

Getting the size right

The fabric is compressive, so the fit should be close with no wrinkles across the thighs. Measure your waist and hips and choose by Orca's chart: S fits a 76-81 cm waist and 84-93 cm hips, M 81-86 cm and 93-102 cm, L 86-91.5 cm and 102-111 cm, XL 91.5-96.5 cm and 111-119.5 cm, and XXL 96.5-101.5 cm and 119.5-128.5 cm. Between sizes, go up one.

Looking after it

Rinse the shorts in cold fresh water straight after a swim to get chlorine and salt out of the fibres, wash gently, and hang to dry in the shade. Skip the dryer and fabric softener, which wear out the stretch and the chamois.
