End of a long day, light fading, and the last thing you want is to sit there red-faced blowing up your sleeping pad. The Nemo Vortex Pump Sack does the work: a big, light bag that connects to your pad's valve, fills with a relaxed breath and empties into the pad as you roll it down. Two or three fills inflate a regular air pad completely.

Who it's for

Anyone sleeping on a Nemo air pad with a Laylow valve, from overnighters to long trips. It comes with Nemo's Tensor pads, and it is the spare to buy if yours has gone missing or you want one for a second pad.

The other reason to use it: every lungful you blow straight into a pad carries moisture with it. The Vortex keeps that breath out of the pad, which helps protect the insulation inside.

How it works

  1. Remove the upper cap of your pad's valve and connect the Vortex securely.
  2. Push the collar open, hold your mouth about 15 cm back from the opening and blow. The chamber fills easily.
  3. Roll the sack up to push the air into the pad.
  4. Repeat until the pad is firm, remove the sack and close the pad valve.

Valve compatibility

The Vortex connects to Nemo's Laylow valve, the valve on Nemo's air pads. It is built for those pads.

Looking after it

The ultralight PU polyester rolls up to a 19 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm packed size and weighs 60 g, so keep the Vortex packed with your pad and it is always there when you need it.
