The Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Storm Hat is a fully seam-taped waterproof rain hat for hiking. A breathable 10k membrane protects from rain and snow, the fabric is rated UPF 50+ for sunny breaks, and a 9 cm brim with a 15.5 cm neck cape covers your face and neck. Who it's for

Walkers who need more than a bucket hat when the weather turns: a wet day on the Overland Track, a Tasmanian south-west trip where the rain sets in for hours, or a winter walk in the Victorian high country when sleet blows sideways. Many walkers prefer a brimmed storm hat to a cinched-up jacket hood, which can muffle what you hear. When the cloud clears, the same hat is rated UPF 50+, so it keeps working in the sun.

Waterproofing and breathability

Every seam is taped, and the fabric carries a 10k waterproof membrane with a PFAS-free durable water-repellent finish. The membrane breathes, and a wicking mesh liner and sweatband move sweat away from your head on the climbs.

Fit and sizing

Two sizes, measured around the crown just above the eyebrows and ears: S/M fits 54-58 cm and L/XL fits 58-62.5 cm. Adjustable sizing fine-tunes the fit, and Sunday Afternoons says the chinstrap keeps it in place in high winds. There are reflective details too.
