Description

The Topeak Tubi 11 is an 83 g folding multi-tool that hides a tubeless tyre repair kit inside its forged aluminium body. The Topeak Tubi 11 has six Allen keys, a T25 Torx, a steel tyre lever, a knife and a 2-in-1 reamer and plug tool; the Combo adds five plugs and a neoprene bag.

What it actually does

Tubeless tyres seal most small holes on their own. The Tubi 11 is for the ones that keep hissing: a sidewall nick on a rocky descent at Mt Buller, or a thorn in the dry country west of the Divide. Pull out the reamer, clean up the hole, load a plug into the insertion tool, push it home and trim the tail with the knife. The repair tools snap back into the body when you are done, so nothing rattles loose in the bag.

The rest of the tool covers the jobs that come up on the road or trail:

  • Allen keys: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, for stems, seat clamps, bottle cages and brake calipers.
  • T25 Torx for disc rotor bolts and many modern stems.
  • Hardened steel tyre lever built into the body.
  • Knife to trim excess plug material.
  • 2-in-1 reamer and 3.5 mm plug insertion tool in stainless steel.

There is no chain breaker or spoke key on board, so pair it with a chain tool if you are heading somewhere remote.

Size, weight and carrying

Folded, the Tubi 11 measures 7.6 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm and weighs 83 g, small enough for a jersey pocket, a saddle bag or the lid of a hip pack. It also fits a Topeak Ninja toolbox (sold separately) if you would rather carry it on the bike. The Combo comes with five 3.5 mm x 5 cm plugs in a plastic box and a neoprene bag to keep the tool and plugs together.

Build quality

A forged aluminium body carries chrome vanadium steel bits, with the reamer and plug tool in stainless steel so they shrug off sealant. Choose black or silver for the tool on its own, or the Combo for the full kit with plugs.

Looking after it

Wipe sealant off the reamer and plug tool after each repair before it dries, and give the hinges a drop of light oil now and then. Topeak sell a replacement plug and reamer tool if yours goes missing.
