Styx Short Leg Rain Pant

The XTM Performance Styx Short Leg is a unisex three-layer rain pant cut with a shorter leg, 76 cm inleg on a size L, so the hem sits at your boots instead of dragging through mud. The 100% recycled polyester shell is rated 15,000 mm waterproof and 10,000 g/m² breathable, with every seam sealed and a PFAS-free DWR finish. Articulated knees, lower leg zips, a reinforced cuff and an adjustable elastic waist, in sizes S to 2XL.

Who it's for

Shorter walkers who have rolled up the cuffs of a standard rain pant one time too many. If a regular-length overpant puddles over your boots, the Short Leg gives you the same Styx protection without the extra fabric to trip on or soak up water. It is built for a wet day in the Blue Mountains, a sodden stretch of the Overland Track, a rainy school pick-up or a winter commute on foot. It is windproof too, so it earns its place in the pack on cold, exposed tops even when the sky is dry.

Waterproofing and breathability

XTM's HydroVENT15+ fabric is rated 15,000 mm waterproof and 10,000 g/m² breathable. Fully sealed seams leave no stitch holes for rain to work through, and the PFAS-free DWR finish makes water bead up and roll off the outer face. The breathable rating lets sweat vapour escape on the climbs, so you stay drier inside as well as out.

Fit and layering

Regular fit: it follows the shape of the body with room added for movement, so it pulls on over walking pants or thermals. The inleg is 76 cm on a size L, shorter than the full-length Styx. Articulated knees bend with you on big steps, the lower leg zips open the hem to get the pant on and off, and the adjustable elastic waist keeps it up under a pack hip belt.

Fabric and construction

The outer, the waterproof membrane and the inner face are bonded into one three-layer fabric, made from 100% recycled polyester. Cuffs are reinforced where boots and scrub rub first, the zips are YKK, and the whole pant is light enough to live in the bottom of a day pack until the clouds roll in. The Styx Short Leg is a certified carbon neutral product.

Care

Hand wash gently in mild detergent rather than machine washing, with every zip and stud done up first. Do not soak, bleach or use fabric softener. Hang it to dry in the shade and skip the tumble dryer and the iron. A clean shell breathes better and keeps its water-repellent finish working longer.
