Description
Description
The Arva Ski Trip Shovel is a telescopic avalanche shovel with a 2 mm anodised aluminium blade, an oval aluminium shaft and a T-grip handle. It comes apart into blade and shaft for the pack, goes together quickly with Arva's PIN LOCK, and extends so you can dig with a longer stroke.
Who it's for
Skiers and snowboarders who chase snow around the world and want one shovel that does everything: resort sidecountry in Hakuba, touring in the Southern Alps, a weekend on the Main Range. A shovel belongs in every pack in the party, next to the transceiver and probe, because digging is often the longest part of a rescue.
Digging in a rescue
The blade is strong and durable 2 mm anodised aluminium. The telescopic oval shaft extends for leverage when you are moving big blocks of snow, then collapses again for the pack.
Using it under pressure
PIN LOCK makes it quick and easy to put the blade and shaft together, and an ergonomic T-grip handle sits at the top of the shaft for digging and passing snow downhill. Put it together at home a few times before the season so the movement is automatic.
Certification and standards
The Ski Trip Shovel complies with the requirements of UIAA standard 156 for avalanche rescue shovels.
Looking after it
Dry the blade and shaft before packing them away after a tour, and check that the PIN LOCK engages cleanly and the telescopic shaft locks at full length before each trip.
