Race Stem Bag

The Restrap Race Stem Bag is a small feed bag that sits beside your stem and opens with one pull of a tab, so food, gels and your phone are always within reach without stopping. It holds 1.1 litres, weighs 86 g and stands 200 mm tall, with stretch mesh pockets on the outside and reflective detailing for riding into the dusk.

Who it's for

Gravel racers, ultra-distance riders, bikepackers and triathletes who eat on the move. On a long day out on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail or an all-day gravel event in the Scenic Rim, it keeps food right under your nose, so you eat little and often instead of remembering only when the legs go.

Fitting it to your bike

Hypalon MOLLE mounts and double-sided velcro loops give it a lot of mounting options. The usual spot is beside the stem on a drop or flat bar, strapped to the bar and the steerer. On a time trial or ultra set-up it also fits on aero extensions, either side of the stem or on top between the arm rests, and two can run as a pair. Restrap designs it to fit any bike.

Capacity and what fits

Inside, 1.1 litres takes a day's bars and gels, a phone, or a light jacket rolled tight. The interior extends upward when you resupply at a servo and need to carry more than you started with. The stretch mesh side pockets, 110 mm deep, hold a gel or a spare bar where you can grab it without opening the bag at all.

Weatherproofing

The outer is waterproof fabric, and an internal stiffener keeps the bag standing open when you reach in and holding its shape when it is half empty. The drawcord cinches the top shut against road grit and showers.

Stability when loaded

The internal stiffener and the multiple strap points hold the bag upright beside the stem, with its shape kept even when it is nearly empty. The one-handed closure works the same way every time: pull the Hypalon tab up to open, pull the shock cord to close.

Looking after it

Shake out crumbs and gel wrappers after each ride, rinse sticky residue from the mesh pockets with fresh water, and let the bag dry open before you store it.
