The Podium Steel is CamelBak's 18/8 stainless steel insulated bottle, built for the bike cage but tough enough for everything else. The steel body keeps drinks cold and takes the knocks a plastic bottle would not.

Who it's for

Riders sick of warm water an hour into a summer ride. A plastic bottle in a cage in direct sun is at ambient temperature almost immediately; vacuum-insulated stainless is not. This is the Podium shape in premium 18/8 stainless steel, so it drops into a normal cage and keeps your drink cold for the whole ride.

It works off the bike too, which is half the reason to own it - the car door, the desk, a pack - and it does not hold flavours the way plastic does.

Capacity and fit

0.53 L at 300 g and 22.5 cm tall, or 0.65 L at 354 g and 27.2 cm. Both are 7.5 cm across, and the optimised cage fit keeps them securely in place rather than rattling loose over rough ground.

Drinking and refilling

A high-flow cap with a no-squeeze design - you drink without having to compress a steel bottle, which is the obvious problem with metal on a bike and the thing CamelBak had to solve to make this work. A leakproof lockout means it can go in a pack without soaking everything.

Cleaning and mould

BPA-free and built to be easy to clean, so a quick rinse is genuinely all it needs before the next ride. After sugary drink mix, pull the cap apart and wash it properly - the valve is where anything grows.

FAQ's

Why is there dust on my bite valve?
The dust is totally harmless—the talc we use is approved under US and EU food contact regulations for use as a coating or additive in or on food-contacting plastic products. This keeps the slit in the bite valve from re-sealing during transit. Just rinse it off with water, and you’re good to go.

The surface of my bottle looks cloudy and/or the design is smeared? What happened?
The bottle may have come into contact with sunscreen. Some sunscreens, lotions, oils and bug repellents have ingredients that can affect the finish or the printed design of water bottles. Scientists have shown that the chemical makeup of these products breaks down with exposure to moisture and sun—and this process can react with the bottle finish to make it appear cloudy. When using sunscreen, wash your hands with soap and water before handling your bottle.

What type of beverages can I put into my water bottle?
Just about anything (milk, juice, sports drinks) works as long as you clean your bottle after each use. We don’t recommend putting carbonated beverages in the Eddy, since the pressure can cause liquid to spurt out of the straw. However, it’s fine to put carbonated drinks in the Chute or Podium series bottles.

Will it fit a normal bottle cage?
Yes. Both sizes are 7.5 cm across with an optimised cage fit, so they sit securely rather than rattling loose.

How do you drink from a steel bottle?
A high-flow cap with a no-squeeze design - you do not have to compress the bottle, which is the obvious problem metal creates on a bike.

Which size fits a small frame?
The 0.53 L is 22.5 cm tall and clears short seat tubes. The 0.65 L is 27.2 cm and needs more room.

Does it hold flavours?
No. 18/8 stainless steel does not absorb taste the way plastic does, so drink mix does not linger between rides.
