Description
The Optimus Terra Xpress HE Cooking Pot is a 1.75 L camp cooking pot in hard-anodised aluminium with a non-stick coating and a heat exchanger (HE) ring on the base. It comes with a see-through lid, a built-in strainer and a mesh carry bag. This listing is the pot without Optimus's BOB sponge.
Who it's for
Two or three people sharing one pot, or a solo walker who likes a proper feed. At 1.75 L there is room for a full serve of pasta for the group, a big batch of soup, or enough water for everyone's dinner and a round of tea, which suits shared trips like a few nights at a hut in Kosciuszko National Park.
Boil time and fuel use
The heat exchanger is the finned ring on the base. Optimus say it reduces the time to boil, making your stove more efficient and saving fuel when cooking. On a long trip, using less gas can mean carrying less of it.
Handles, lid and strainer
- Butterfly handles fold down snugly against the pot for packing and stay stable when you handle a hot meal
- See-through lid so you can watch the pasta simmering without lifting it
- Built-in strainer to drain off cooking water
- Non-stick coating on hard-anodised aluminium
Stability and packed size
With the handles folded, the Terra Xpress HE packs as a neat cylinder, and there is room inside for an Optimus Nova stove and the Optimus 3-piece titanium cutlery set. The mesh bag keeps it all together in your pack.
Looking after it
Use wooden or plastic utensils and a soft sponge to look after the non-stick coating. Keep the flame under the base rather than licking up the sides, and dry the pot before it goes back in its bag.
