The Nemo Moonlite Elite Reclining Backpacking Chair is a 552 g camp chair whose seat angle adjusts through smooth-adjust hardware inspired by belay devices. It has a seamless mesh seat on aluminium poles with ball-and-socket attachment points, and packs into an included Platform Pack case that doubles as a platform for sandy ground.
Who it's for
Walkers who have long argued a chair is not worth the carry. Nemo built the Moonlite Elite as a backpacking and hiking chair: the poles are custom-designed for strength and weight, the cordage is ultralight, and the whole chair packs into its own tool-roll style case. It comes in Lake, Black, Birch Bud and Spicy Orange.
Comfort and how it sits
It reclines. Strong, ultralight cordage woven from HTP and Dyneema runs through smooth-adjust hardware inspired by belay devices, so you can sit upright over dinner and tip the seat back afterwards. The seat itself is a custom-engineered, seamless mesh of post-consumer recycled polyester and TPU fibres.
Packed size and weight
Nemo gives a minimum weight of 552 g. Everything rolls into the included Platform Pack carrying case, a tool-roll style case with a carry handle, and the packed chair measures 32 x 12 x 9 cm. Set up, it stands 47 x 49 x 59 cm.
Stability on soft ground
For sandy ground, Nemo made the carrying case double as a platform: unroll it and stand the chair on it, as the product photos show.
Build
The frame pairs oversized 7001-series aluminium tubes with skeletonised, forged 6061-series aluminium hubs, and the poles lock into ball-and-socket attachment points at the corners of the seat. The cordage that sets the recline is woven from HTP and Dyneema.
