Description

The Mini M.U.L.E. is CamelBak's hydration pack for kids: 1.5 litres of water plus room for a snack and a bike tool, with grown-up features scaled down so a child can manage it themselves.

Who it's for

Kids old enough to want their own gear and to stop asking you for the water bottle. This is a proper pack scaled down rather than a toy - the same Crux reservoir as the adult packs, a bike tool organiser pocket, and room for a jacket and snacks. The practical effect is that a child drinks more, because a bite valve over the shoulder is something they will use and a bottle in your pack is not.

Capacity and fit

1.5 litres of water and 3.5 litres of storage, in a body 36 cm tall, 19 cm wide and 15 cm deep. That is a jacket, a snack, spare gloves and their own water - enough that they are carrying their own day rather than symbolically carrying a bag.

Reflective strips and a safety whistle are built in, which is the detail that makes this an easy yes for a parent: they are easier to spot on the trail, and they have a way to call out if they get ahead.

Drinking and refilling

The Crux reservoir is CamelBak's current design, delivering more water per bite than the older ones, with a wide fill opening that makes filling and drying it straightforward. That matters more on a kid's pack than an adult's, because the person responsible for cleaning it is you.

Cleaning and mould

This is what ends most reservoirs, and it is entirely preventable. Empty it after every ride and dry it properly rather than putting it away damp - prop it open so air gets right through. If you take one habit from this page, take that one.

FAQ's

How do I adjust the shoulder straps of my pack?
CamelBak packs are designed so you can easily adjust them to fit your own body type. Everyone has their own preferences, but here are some guidelines for figuring out where the pack should sit on your body: If your pack has a waist belt attached, try to set the shoulder straps so the waist belt lines up with the top of your hips. This will transfer some of the load from your hips to your waist, which means more stability and a better range of motion. If your pack has sternum straps, slide them up or town so the strap sits just above your abdomen. This will also help distribute weight more evenly across your body.

Does the pack come with a Bladder?
Absolutely! A CRUX 1.5L bladder including a valved on off switch thats super easy for kids to use.

Are there much additional storage in the pack?
Yes the pack has a zipped back pocket that's great for snacks and other small items. You can also pack things in the main compartment between the bladder and the back of the pack, which is particularly useful for small bike pumps, and other longer items.

How do I keep my Mini M.U.L.E Clean?
Keeping your CamelBak bladder clean is critical for safe hydration and longevity. Mold, bacteria, or residue can build up if neglected, affecting taste and health. A bladder cleaning kit is available

1. Empty and Rinse After Every use.
Prevent buildup by cleaning immediately post-use.

2. Deep Clean after Sugary Drinks.
For thorough cleaning, especially after using electrolytes or if you notice odors. Fill with 1L warm water + 1 CamelBak Cleaning Tablet (or 1 tsp mild dish soap). Let sit 5 minutes (tablets) or scrub gently with reservoir brush (avoid abrasive sponges). Rinse thoroughly until no soap/taste remains.

3. Check for Mold
: Inspect seams/corners. If spotted, soak in 1:10 white vinegar-water solution for 10 minutes, then rinse.

4. Store Properly Between Trips
Camelbak recommend ensuring bladder is 100% dry (check seams/hose) and storing open (not sealed) in a cool, dry place, ideally in a breathable bag (avoid plastic bins). Insert crumpled paper towels to absorb residual moisture. Alternatively we have always had good success simply storing the bladder in the freezer. Mold and bacteria growth is significantly slowed below zero degrees, so if you know your going to use it again soon, you could save the time of a deep clean and throw the bladder in the freezer until your next use.

What Accessories or spares are available for the Mini M.U.L.E?
Unfortunately kids chew things, so we find the mouth pieces can wear out or grow holes from little teeth.. Fortunately its a quick and easy fix with a replacement mouth piece. to see replacement mouth pieces. Its pretty rare a bladder would break, but in the event it does, these are available to be replaced too. Just grab the 1.5L variant to ensure it fits in the Mini M.U.L.E. Lost your entire bite valve? No problem, grab a new valve here:

How much water does it hold?
1.5 litres in a Crux reservoir, plus 3.5 litres of storage for a jacket, snacks and gloves.

Is there anything for safety?
Yes - reflective strips make them easier to spot on the trail, and there is a safety whistle built in.

Is it a real CamelBak or a toy version?
The Mini M.U.L.E. uses the same Crux reservoir as the adult packs and adds a bike tool organiser pocket. A scaled-down pack, not a novelty.

How do I stop the reservoir going mouldy?
Empty it after every use and dry it fully with the opening propped open. Storing it damp is what ruins reservoirs.

What is the fabric?
Recycled 200D polyester with a PFC-free C0 DWR finish, with a solution-dyed P135D lining.
