Merino Aerogrid Balaclava

XTM Merino Aerogrid Balaclava keeps your head, face and neck warm on cold days when you are working hard. This unisex balaclava is made from Aerogrid, XTM's 260 gsm grid fleece in 65% merino wool, 31% recycled polyester and 4% elastane, with 19.5 micron fibre. It has a hinged design and flatstitch seams, weighs an average of 56 g and is a Woolmark Wool Rich Blend.

Who it's for

Anyone who moves fast in the cold: a ski tourer skinning up Mt Feathertop, a cross-country skier at Lake Mountain, a winter trail runner on the Mt Wellington tracks, or a resort skier on a cold day on the Main Range. The grid fleece is built for effort, so it traps warmth while letting heat and moisture escape when you push uphill.

Fit and layering

A regular fit in one size, neither tight nor baggy, with 4% elastane in the blend for stretch. The hinged design makes it easy to wear on the move.

Fabric and construction

Aerogrid is XTM's lightweight grid-channel fleece, and the grid construction traps warmth while allowing airflow and moisture to escape. The blend is 65% merino wool, 31% recycled polyester and 4% elastane, at 260 gsm with 19.5 micron merino fibre. It is a Woolmark Wool Rich Blend and a certified carbon neutral product.

Packability and weight

At an average of 56 g, it disappears into a hip belt pocket on the way up and comes out at the top for the run down.

Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle or wool cycle with a wool detergent and no fabric softener or bleach. Do not wring it. Dry it flat in the shade, or tumble dry cool. If it needs ironing, use the wool setting with it inside out and keep the iron off prints and accessories. Do not dry clean.
