Mens Merino Aero Grid Fleece

XTM Performance men's quarter-zip fleece pullover in 260 gsm wool-rich grid fleece: 65% merino wool, 31% recycled polyester and 4% elastane. Regular fit, sizes XS to 3XL. The Aero Grid is the mid-layer between your thermal and your shell: a smooth face on the outside, a grid of small channels on the inside that holds warm air against you and lets excess heat out once you start climbing.

Who it's for

Walkers, campers and skiers who want one mid-layer for the whole trip. Pull it on for a cold start at Cradle Valley, keep it on under a shell when the wind gets up on the Main Range, and wear it around camp when the stove is going. The merino content makes it naturally odour resistant and the fabric dries quickly, so it earns its place on a week-long walk where every layer has to be worn more than once.

Fit and layering

Regular fit, neither slim nor relaxed. It follows the shape of the body with enough ease to move, which leaves room for a thermal top underneath and still slides under a rain shell. Articulated sleeves let you reach for a pole plant or a scramble hold without the hem riding up. Back length is 74 cm on a size L.

Fabric and construction

The grid fleece is 65% merino wool, 31% recycled polyester and 4% elastane at 260 gsm, using 19.5 micron merino. Wool brings the temperature regulation and odour resistance, recycled polyester adds durability, and the elastane gives the stretch. The fabric is certified as a Woolmark Wool Rich Blend.

Packability and weight

Average weight is 363 g, light for a wool-rich mid-layer you will wear most of the day and stuff in the top of the pack for the rest.
